Eric Cantona finally and fairly rewarded with a worldchampion title!

Winning comeback on fields for Eric and his friends from the french beach-soccer national team who come just to win the "world champions" title on Sunday, May 15th in Brazil where was thus took place the first FIFA Beach-soccer Worldcup.

Fair reward then, and a trophy more, for the one who for years makes the promotion and tries to develop this sport. Main actor with his brother Joël, Eric and his happy french team thus made a success their big bet!

Twelve teams thus participated in this event. The french team found itself in the same group as Argentina and Australia. Brazilians, last world champions, real stars of the sport and in demonstration in front of their audience were waited. Although logical favourites, they are indeed King's frenchies, at same time manager and player, that took the stake!

"I honestly think we showed enough over the week to prove that we are worthy winners. Having said that, sides who deserve to win don't always prevail, so I am very pleased. We had to work and we had to fight. We knew that you don't get to be world champions without a struggle. We were striving to improve in every game. We have been working together for years, and now we have reaped our reward. We won the European Championship last September and now the world title. That is some year for French beach soccer!

Now comes the hard part. We have to keep improving and that's difficult because it's tough to do better than winning a world title. But we will improve and I know we have the players to do so. I'll still be here to sort things out if anyone gets out of line. But I have faith in my players, because they are a great bunch".

Jacquet (former french manager in 1998 WC) will thus not have succeeded in depriving Eric of a title which he deserved... there is thus nevertheless a justice somewhere!
